Men's health at every age: everyday habits and three Geberich foodsupplements

Many men think about their health only when something feels wrong. Yet everyday habits,from regular exercise to sleep and regular check-ups, are part of a healthy lifestyle in your30s, 50s and beyond.

This guide brings together practical tips on movement, eating, sleep and check-ups. In thesecond part, we introduce three Swiss-made food supplements from Geberich,Testosteron Boost, ProstAktiv and Prostatricum, and explain what is inside each of them.This article is general information and does not replace advice from a doctor.

Move regularly

The WHO recommends that adults do 150–300 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75–150minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity per week, plus muscle-strengtheningactivities on at least two days a week (WHO 2020 guidelines). For adults aged 65 and over,WHO also recommends activities that combine balance, coordination and strength on atleast three days a week.

Mix endurance and strength. Brisk walking, cycling or swimming for endurance;weights, resistance bands or body-weight exercises for strength.

Train all major muscle groups: legs, hips, back, chest, shoulders and arms.

Increase the load step by step and plan rest days for recovery.

Sit less. Break up long periods at the desk or in the car with short walks.

Eating habits

The WHO recommends eating at least 400 g of fruit and vegetables a day, choosinglegumes, nuts and whole grains, limiting salt to less than 5 g a day and limiting free sugars(WHO Europe).

Some minerals and vitamins have an officially recognised role in the body:

Sleep, stress and everyday habits

  • Sleep enough. Most adults need 7–9 hours of sleep a night. Regular bed and wake-up times help.
  • Manage stress. Exercise, time outdoors, hobbies and time with friends and family help many men switch off.
  • Keep alcohol low. Less is better; alcohol-free days during the week are a simple start.
  • Do not smoke. Your doctor or a stop-smoking service can help you quit.
  • Keep a healthy body weight. Regular activity and a balanced diet are the basis.

Check-ups and when to see a doctor

Regular check-ups are an easy way to keep an eye on your health. Ask your doctor which check-ups are recommended for your age; in many European countries, health insurance covers preventive check-ups for men from a certain age.

See a doctor if you notice any of the following:

  • you need to urinate much more often, especially at night;
  • a weak or interrupted urine flow, or difficulty starting to urinate;
  • pain or burning when urinating;
  • blood in your urine or semen;
  • lasting tiredness, loss of energy or changes in your mood that do not go away.

These signs can have many causes, and only a doctor can find out what is behind them. Food supplements are not a substitute for a medical examination.
